God does not Support Equal Oppurtunity

Can you imagine the people gathering around and harassing God for not giving people equal opportunity to be priests? We don’t really know who God is, and we don’t know what true equality is. Let us seek forgiveness for our foolishness and arrogance.

16 The LORD said to Moses, 17 “Say to Aaron: ‘For the generations to come none of your descendants who has a defect may come near to offer the food of his God. 18 No man who has any defect may come near: no man who is blind or lame, disfigured or deformed; 19 no man with a crippled foot or hand, 20 or who is a hunchback or a dwarf, or who has any eye defect, or who has festering or running sores or damaged testicles. 21 No descendant of Aaron the priest who has any defect is to come near to present the food offerings to the LORD. He has a defect; he must not come near to offer the food of his God. 22 He may eat the most holy food of his God, as well as the holy food; 23 yet because of his defect, he must not go near the curtain or approach the altar, and so desecrate my sanctuary. I am the LORD, who makes them holy.’” –Leviticus 21:16-23

Submitting to a Corrupt Government

Image                Imagine with me for a moment, living in a world where you are under a government that is most incredibly corrupt; one that cares not for its poor and oppressed. A society that hates Christians, and the very notion of Christianity. Imagine living in a nation where the vast majority of the ruling class, the ones who are in power are pagan; unconverted and ungodly men vying for power and control. Think about what it must be like, as a follower of Christ to be in the minority. Imagine living underneath an evil dictator who presents himself as God; who demands to be worshiped. Imagine being a citizen of a nation that imposes an unfair tax on its people, a place where injustice abounds, sexual immorality is rampant, and scandals occur on a regular basis.

Is this America that I am describing? Or is it ancient Rome? The same corrupt, over-taxing, abuse of authority, Roman government that the great apostle Paul told us to submit to? The Christian killing, light-on-fire, for fun kind of government; we are to submit to that?! As a matter of fact….yes. Maybe Paul doesn’t know how corrupt this government is. Or maybe he doesn’t know that we have so much worse, then all the people during the times of the Roman empire, with all the martyrs. We are an exception to the rule, we can rebel right? Maybe? I mean, it’s justified….(please note the sarcasm).

We as Christians ought to be the best citizens in this country. And yet, so often times we are not. We are so busy fighting for our supposed ‘rights’ (which we do not see very often in Scripture) that we find ourselves no longer being the ideal citizens. The idea of submission is particularly repugnant to us as Americans. We see it as inferior. We see obedience as shameful; we pride ourselves on our rebellious heritage; the Revolutionary War. When we are more concerned with our ‘rights’ and our ‘liberty’, justice and freedom, all good things, but when we are so concerned about these, that the Gospel, the great news of our Christ, becomes smaller, becomes diminished, tainted in the public view…we should grieve. My brothers, please, spend some time contemplating how we have failed to be the ideal citizens that we are called to be. How our rebellious attitudes and speech are not doing good but harm. It is true that we are not to obey when the matter is of sin. But technically guys, giving the government more money, is not a matter of sin. As much as I do not wish to, I must obey, for the sake of the obedience, for the sake of peace. More than that, for the sake of the gospel, for the sake of Christ. Remember, we are citizens of Zion first, not of America. We must show people this.

It may seem ugly

Emerald's Notebook

I struggled to see
The beauty of life
Beleaguered by day
Yet so surreal

Down on my knees
My mouth dry —
My body weak —
My heart broken

It was so ugly
Beauty so unreal
Yet I believed it will
And so it came, yet

20130909-111748.jpg

In the beauty came-
The ugly yet again
I am bewildered —
Yet I see his mercy

My eyes close tight
I shut out pain and ugliness
To gaze upon my saviour
The beauty I see, immeasurable

7 (8) Reasons Why Women Should not be Cops

1. NOT a Woman’s Spiritual make-up: Peter 3:3–4 which urges women to cultivate a “gentle and quiet spirit.” Being a cop is NOT cultivating this. God did not create women to be the aggressive, assertive, dominant sex, and yet, that is precisely what the feminists want and the police force needs.

2. NOT a Woman’s Physical make-up: Clearly God did not design women, as a whole and in general, with this purpose in mind, clearly it was a role that God gave men, so why are women taking it from them? Why are women going against God’s obvious intent? If it is wrong for a man to hit a woman because he is stronger, then what about a woman who is a cop?

3. Image: In Song of Solomon, we see it is the woman’s job is to bare the image of a flower, of beauty and fragility. “I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.” Song 2:1. Impossible to do as a Navy Seal or a soldier. A woman should represent womanhood IN the home AND outside the home. This cannot be done in the inherently masculine role of a cop, or, like my previous post talked about, as G. I. Jane.

4. Setting bad example: If it is not something you want your children to emulate, then why are you doing it? A woman as a cop or even a soldier can lead to confusion, and gender confusion leads to homosexuality. The number of lesbians in the military and especially the police force, are incredibly high. There is a correlation that many men in the military have picked up on. Your are leading others kids astray, causing them to stumble…

5. Scandalous: Furthering on the last note, I am afraid that a ‘Christian’ woman who is a cop, is creating a scandal. Because of the reputation of female cops as being lesbians is such a recognized truth among certain groups, it is pure scandal in the church of Christ. Eph. 5:3, “But sexual immorality and any impurity or greed should not even be heard of among you, as is proper for saints. (Italics mine).”

6. Usurping /stealing man’s intended purpose and role: God gave this role to men, so why are women taking it, as if they ‘have a right’ to it? This is not the natural order of things that God has set forth, and yet so many people instinctively  know this. God does not screw up, nor is He arbitrary; He designed men and women for a  purpose, and those purposes are NOT the same. A man’s role is to protect women, children, and society. Why do we have women who are not satisfied with their God given roles?

7. Pragmatic Reason: Men are not being men, to a very large degree, because women are not being women. You want your man to be a man? Then get out of his way and stop doing his job for him. Very, very, few men desire to have a wife who is a cop; it is shameful for a man if a woman is just as, or more so, of a man than he is. This is inherent in the way God made men and women. You want to increase your odds of getting married? Be a woman, not a man.

8. Cross-dressing is Wrong: It is a perversion, it’s ungodly. Society ‘accepts’ men and women who cross dress, but that does not mean the God who created them does. Our God is not a God of confusion so why do we have women who are dressing up in the manliest clothes they can possibly wear? Because they want to be masculine. This is wrong, unhealthy, and only creates confusion. Just because society applauds women wearing clothes that makes are inherently masculine, does not mean the church should.

This feminist culture has redefined what it means to be a woman, now the church needs to redefine it again, back to what it should be. Even little children know that a woman should not be a cop, let us humble ourselves and learn from  the ‘wisdom from the mouth of babes’.

God’s Love and Eternal Punishment….Some Thoughts

I heard a man say that to be punished for eternity doesn’t really sound like love. Eternity is a pretty dang long time, (forever in fact) and he asked about someone who is a good person, by normal human standards, but is not saved; how is that really loving, the kind of love that comes from the true source of love, God? Of course there are proponents that think and feel that the only way to salvation is through Christ is not fair. And to them I reply what has been said before. God created this universe and He runs it. If you don’t like it, then you can run your own universe one day when you get one.

But what this man said indeed troubled me. If He is so loving and forgiving then why eternity? I feel that the search for truth should never allow us to shy away from difficult questions and hard answers. I did not have an answer at the time but I do now. If we look at the Bible, Isaiah 6:5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.” He came into God’s presence and was struck by the uncleanness of his lips, and he knew right away that it meant death. I don’t know about all of you but my mouth and the words that it has spoke, pale in comparison to my deeds and actions. If he was to die for merely unclean lips then there is something to be said there.

Of course people automatically think that that is not fair. But again keep in mind that we do not run this universe and we don’t decide what is fair. Though we sure do try. Our God is so Holy, so Righteous, so Loving, He is SO far above us and pure and good that simply a pair of lips that are not clean, in His presence deserves and warrants death. This is not something we can wrap our heads around. Oh we can know it. But we cannot know it experientially until that day comes when every knee will bow. This can be observed with an honest inspection of emotions and people and how guilt works.

As far as is it loving to do that. In a way I feel like I should not have to defend God or His word. Take for example a scenario. Would you as an honest reader, praise a judge for letting a guilty child molester go after doing obscene and utterly detestable things to your child? Would you consider a jury moral and good if they did not hold a murder accountable? If there is no justice there is no love. Now people often times confuse the two as it is easy to do. But do not let yourself follow a double standard of forgive me but hold my enemy accountable.

This happens all too often I am afraid. Mankind likes to think that he sets the standard. In fact this is evident by some of the justifying that we do. How many times have you looked around at other people and thought, well I’m not as bad as them? Or something along those lines. I know I sure have done it. But the standard is not other men, but God alone.

If love is the ultimate virtue, then how does an unjust judge be considered loving? There is a connection between justice and love. Justice with love is nothing but law and rule, and is depicted by the antagonist in Les Miserables. Love without justice is evil. It would have no right and wrong and no moral code. They are inseparable. Yet we try to separate them as we see fit. If we want to not pay up for our wrong, then we demand love and forgiveness, but if someone has wronged us, we have a tendency to want justice or revenge. I believe that those who have trouble accepting that God would be so loving and yet punish people for eternity, are those that have trouble seeing the pure righteousness of our Lord and feel the real weight of their sin and iniquity. Love is good as is justice, they are inextricably combined, and if we can understand this, our next obstacle is understanding and seeing that God is so perfect that well fall short.

Of course the good news is that we can be forgiven, His mercy and grace is just as great. So take to heart, though there are things that our beyond our intellectual grasp, we can know for certain that God is perfectly loving, in spite of our views. All we have to do is ask forgiveness, repent, and then follow Christ.
