Disciple’s Perspective

This blog is for the education and edification of Christians. You will find book reviews, articles and hopefully some interesting and stimulating conversations as well. This blog is for the serious minded folks….the Christian who takes serious the call to die to self. Who will pick up their cross daily and follow. This blog is not for the ‘lukewarm.’ I pray that you are able to use this resource to grow in your love and your faith, that you may not stagnate but always be useful. God bless.

2 Peter 1:5-8

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.  For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

First and foremost I would like to say that I am sorry for your loss and yet am extremely grateful that you have persevered in the faith. It troubles me when I see people leave the faith because of hardships and trials, but the Good Lord uses them to test us and make us stronger. Yes I will most gladly read and review your book, and am looking forward to it. I must throw in a caveat however; with all the books I read and review I will also discuss, if need be, theology and biblical accuracy, to the best of my knowledge. I will be honest with my reviews and I know that often means upsetting some people. Nonetheless I don’t imagine any of that being an issue and I hope and pray that God blesses you abundantly and continues to strengthen and build you and your family up.

Feel free to email me at masondan84@gmail.com. It may be a while before I get the review posted as I can be pretty busy. I appreciate your patience. Also I have a kindle so if you have a kindle format version it would make it easier.

2 Peter 1:5-8 God’s growth chartSeveral years ago my patsor did a sermon on this. He used 8 people lining them up in front of the Church showing the Christian Growth. Each person represented one Character, starting with Faith and ending with Charity. It was great presentation. I’m gong to try that at my Church next Sunday. Thanks for the reminder!Brian

I love 2 Peter 1:5-8. One version says ” supplement” your faith. That is absolutely what we need to do. Become more and more perfect day by day, supplementing our faith with righteousness. You’ve got a great blog here =D

    Dan,
Thanks for following my blog. I find I disagree with many of the arguments that you make in many of your posts. However I am always interested to read different perspectives and learn from others. I look forward to reading more of your writings.

The worst thing about religion is its tendency to allow n
eophytes to start preaching so early. I object to your believing you’re ready to “counsel” anyone about anything. You’re not very intelligent, and you clearly have an unconscious agenda related to gender. You should just stop. Go learn something. I mean this in the nicest way.
